Paper checklists fail on kitchen installs. Digital ones only work if the crew uses them.

A kitchen install has dozens of small pass/fail moments: levels, gaps, seals, appliance clearances, services tested, and a site left clean. If those checks live in someone’s head, you will only hear about them when a client calls two weeks later.

What “conformity” should mean on a kitchen

It is not a legal essay. It is a shared list of what “done” means for your company. The same items, in the same order, on every job, filled in by the people who did the work.

• Services: water, waste, electrics, and ventilation tested and photographed where relevant.
• Carcasses: fixings, levels, scribes, and doors aligned.
• Worktops and splashbacks: joints, seals, and overhangs.
• Appliances: fitted, connected, and running as specified.
• Handover: snags listed, client walked through, site clean.

Why clipboards do not survive a real install week

Paper gets wet, stays in the van, or is filled in on Friday from memory. A PDF emailed after the job is theatre. The office still cannot see which checks were skipped while the crew is on site, and a photo is not attached to the line item that failed.

A checklist that is not completed on the job is a wish list. Quality has to be captured at the moment of the check.

Make the list short enough to finish

Companies copy 80-line inspection forms and then nobody uses them. Split the work: a short pre-install survey, an install-day conformity list, and a handover punch list. Each one should be finishable in a few minutes, with photos where a tick is not enough.
